Are those Santa's bells I hear...?

There are 14 shopping days left until Christmas. Thankfully we have managed to fill Santa's sack with presents from the Little Present Company this year, so all godchildren, neices, nephews and offspring of friends will be receiving quality gifts. We will be extremely popular, methinks. Time is almost out for personalising presents if needed in time for Chrimbo, so CHOP CHOP if you
want to SHOP SHOP! It is mayhem for the artists and seamstresses at the moment, so the more notice they have, the calmer the commission and the happier the vibe.
All in the spirit of Christmas, let's sing a snow song "I hear those sleigh bells ringing, ding dinga
dinging..."

After our fairs and shows, our replacement stock has arrived so we are fit to burst again for wooden toys and nightwear, so just contact us with your requirements. We offer a gift-wrap and card service too, if you are unable to get to the shops in this terrible weather.

Hammer Hammer Bang Bang!

The days are drawing in, the nights are frosting over, the TV is offering rubbish to our vulnerable minded off-spring. Drum roll (or the clatter of hammer) please, the Little Present Company are here to help with occupying little hands, budding imaginations and paving the way for a life-time of quality DIY-ing.
Introducing our fabulous range of wooden toys for boys:
http://www.littlepresentcompany.co.uk/wooden-toys.asp

First up is our BIGGEST and most BOYISH powertoolsworkbench. Free-standing, brightly coloured and full of bits that bang, turn and swirl; what little 2yr+ could resist the urge to build all day long? Better than a repeat episode of Handy Manny any day. In stock and priced at £38.00

To accompany the workbench, we have our top-selling Carpenter’s Belt (£10.90) and the portable Toolkit. Both come with hammers, screwdrivers, nuts and bolts – and with their fun colours and safety element (no detachable swallow-able bits) they will be a big hit with the noisy boys this Christmas. Sorry mums!

All gifts on our site are available for despatch before Christmas, but please note: if you would like any artwork to be personalised we need to receive your orders within Friday 9th December.

Thanks and love from
Emily and Emma

An Ideal Night-time, courtesy of the Little Present Company

After bathing your little bundles of loveliness in a lavender-based bath essence (after the previous night's disaster and middle of the night whingeing from junior), you take the small children to the cupboard to choose nightwear.

The baby sleeps like a king in his Crown Baby Vest (£10.95). His bedtime story is The Prince's Bedtime (£7.95) but he is asleep before they get to page 5. He falls asleep with his favourite wooden Tractor and Trailer in his arms (£5.95).

Big brother prefers his Vintage Cars pyjamas (£19.95) because they are the button-down front like daddy's and they have a car on them like they have on Top Gear. He gets to stay up a little late so fills in the blanks in his Johnny Joe's Time Travel Colouring Book (£4.50)

Big sister has a pair of pink pyjamas with a Rocking Horse design, but tonight opts for the Floral Cotton Nightdress (£18.95) because it is soft and lightweight. Her bed is pretty with its personalised cushion (from £33), bedspread and teddy bears. It's almost too pretty to sleep in but she has been playing all day in her Wendy House and is thoroughly exhausted from all the fresh air.

And then the phone rings and everyone wakes up. POP!

Summer Loving (or Loving Summer)

Whether the weather be good, or whether the weather be bad, we have all sorts of Summer Fun things happening here at The Little Present Company.

With sand in our shoes and windburn on our cheeks from the British seaside, it is with a whole heap of enthusiasm that we introduce our new Children's Deckchairs to you (available in 3 designs) for £28 each - and our additional long towelling Hooded Beachwear (£24.99 in all kids sizes).

Take one of our Wooden Cricket sets to the beach (£14.95), pitch a tent or a windbreak, and settle in for the day. The children can run around in the Swimtrunks or Swimsuits we can offer (by far the funkiest gear on the coastline this summer) and after a bracing surf in the waves, they can snuggle into their warm hooded Towelling tops.

The only thing we cannot help you with is the weather or the sand in the sandwiches.

Have fun!

Personalised Cushions (shhh! at a steal)

We should change our name to Little Cushion Company, frankly. I cannot believe how clever our seamstress ladies are - so in awe are we, infact, that we have listed pretty much every cushion in their repartee.

You name it, we have it.

Bunnies? check. Ducks? check. Fire Engine. Yup. Red Bus? that too. Pigs? check. Trains? yes, two designs, ditto the Tractors. Pirate? yes-siree. Oriental Doll? let me just check.. yes, we have that too. You see? We are SERIOUS about cushions.

We can personalise your cushions or even have a design created for you. *happy sigh* anything is possible in the giddy world of Cushions. They make the perfect present for a newborn's bedroom, a birthday present and a Christening gift. A personalised cushion is the gift that keeps on giving, and from only £33 we are the most affordable of all of the stockists of this design range.

We are very proud (and lucky) to have such clever artistic suppliers working with us. Our personalised cushions have gone statospheric and have been selling like the proverbial hot-cake.

We took a bit of time to get to know the ladies behind Malooshi (formerly My Grandmother's Fairytales), and have gleaned some interesting background information on a partnership which has resulted in excellent quality artwork cushions.

Speaking with Sylwia Peczak earlier this month we found out the inspiration behind the business:
I started to make some crocheted pieces when I was studying Interior Design in Windsor College , my Friend Svietlana Khramova looked at them and decided that she would like to make an Exhibition of my Crocheted Products in her Art Gallery in Eton/Windsor. Me and my other Friend Joanna Kociuba (who has better crochet skills than me ) made a whole range of Products : Cushions, bedspreads, canvases, baskets for the Exhibition which was a huge success. We had many visitors all over the world telling us how unique our products are , we also made a lot of sales. So, after the Exhibition we decided to make it into the business.

What makes your Crochet Cushions unique?
We make personalised cushions, blankets and canvases. It is not possible to make the crochet appliqué on any machine—it has to be hand made. Nobody , so far, discovered crochet that way—to make the crochet appliqué . We design them by ourselves—making the drawing and trying to make the first pattern. My auntie who has been crocheting for over 50 years (making the most beautiful table cloths and jumpers) told me that she has never seen something like we do and I had to teach her (!) how to make it.

What is your best selling product?
Our bestselling product is a personalised cushion with a Tractor on it. We have this Tractor in different colours and on different fabric background, so every customer can find their favourite one .

What impact has LPC had on your business?
Starting to sell with LPC gave us the confidence. When somebody else who knows a lot of about the online business (LPC) appreciate our products and want to sell it – It means that we are on a good path with our company.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

This Week's Hottest Property at LPC

Drum roll and trumpet fanfare... This week, we will mostly be celebrating the Little Present Company's hottest-property, Maxine Pharoah.

http://www.littlepresentcompany.co.uk/birthday-gifts.asp

Each clock, mirror and blackboard is hand made in her St. Ives workshop in Cornwall. Using her skills of collage and story-telling, Maxine has a range of personal and bespoke gifts for children that will be treasured for years to come. Each piece is stunning with eye-catching colours and vintage-style materials. Some items are part of a limited edition of 50.

Handmade using traditional materials, from blanket, cottons, linen, buttons and with stitched details, her cushions are personalised with the name of your choice to create an absolutely stunning keepsake gift. The cushions feature a high quality printed image taken from her own original artwork, using gorgeous colour combinations it will look great in any stylish nursery or bedroom. Complete with feather pad, and finished with a button flap on the reverse, the cushions are handmade to order with much care and attention to detail, and to the very highest standard.

She sells through a few websites, but she is one of our biggest treasures, and we have her most affordable prices.

A selection of Maxine's mirrors, clocks and blackboards will be for sale from our stands at the following Christmas Fairs:
Durham Shopping Extravaganza 12-13th Oct inclusive
Living North Fair, Croft on Tees 11-13th Nov inclusive
Mary Howard Fair York Racecourse 22-23rd Nov inclusive.

Despite being at the sea-side, Maxine spends her time in the workshop rather than on a surfboard. Her creative juices are working on designing a new personalised wedding range which we will be stocking the moment it is ready for launch. Named photo frames for bridesmaids and pageboys will make a perfect gift for the little helpers on your big day.

See you soon!

Fun AND Practical solutions at the Little Present Company

No matter how tall or small the child, there is a requisite amount of coat (winter, summer, rainy day, fleece) and bags (sport, ballet, swim, school, satchel)in their possession. The floor can become a bulging mass of discarded outerwear, ready to explode like an active volcano at any given moment.

Introducing our 'Clutter Solution' for mums of little ones who are bored of having to stoop low to retrieve said belongings. Our hand-painted jolly 3-peg Hanging Racks can be wall mounted so that bags and coats need never be abandoned again. We love solutions to potential problems!

We have four designs in stock.
Light blue with pink spots (with matching hanging heart)
Brown with 2 skull and cross bones
White with 2 'stitched' red stars (with white distressed hanging star)
Red with white 2 'stitched' hearts (with white distressed hanging heart)

Each peg rack has been handmade and painted in England by a firm who are committed to quality and honest design. Solid, sturdy and made of solid wood, these will bear the weight of a number of bags with ease.

Peg racks are £17 and the co-ordinating hanging heart or star is £5.
This makes for a great present for any nursery, playroom, entrance hallway or bathroom.

Happy shopping!

The Thrills of the New at the Little Present Company

The much-anticipated arrival of the new LPC 'baby' from Giddy Kipper has arrived. We have taken delivery of a box of goods with self-congratulatory pride. Well done us for finding such a brilliant English supplier! We are so very grateful for all of the careful time taken by the clever and talented team in rural Lincolnshire.

Here we celebrate the Jolly Roger motif, and whilst it has its roots in the blood-thirsty, we celebrate its cheeky nature with a whole host of children's accessories. Each of the Skulls is smiling (gappy, toothless smiles, granted) but they mean no harm. They are as keen as mustard to become part of your little boy's bedroom and playroom: the Bookends are a particularly useful item at only £28, as with the 3-rung pegs (£17), and the Pirate Wooden Door Sign (£12) is sure to deter little sisters from entering without permission from the Pirate Captain himself.

Mums will be delighted with our very pretty white and red 3-peg Peg Racks with Nordic-style stitched heart and star motifs. They are pretty, elegant AND useful: who would dare even to shake a stick at that? Each peg rack comes with its own distressed heart or star for an extra £5… this is a perfect gift for a birthday and they are in stock for immediate despatch.

The bookends are sturdy, solid and so very original. The little sailboats are blue and white striped on a distressed white base, and are more coastal and English than Cornwall itself. Given their size (7x7x5.75") they are heavy enough to support any number of books of a shelf, and humorous enough to raise a smile on the lips of your little swashbuckler. Pirate Bookends for £28 per set.

If you need any further information on our gorgeous new products, please get in touch at post@littlepresentcompany.co.uk or call us 01748 810450.

With love

Flushed with Spring

It's not the chocolate in the Easter weekend which is driving us forwards, it is the smell of Spring in the air. After a long and grey winter under a blanket of snow, it is encouraging to see the newborn lambs in the fields again. We have all sorts of newborn animals in our range here at the Little Present Company: lambs, calfs, ducklings, bunnies and piglets. It is like a glorious farmyard of newborns without any of the mucking out or feeding.

Our Sheep Bookends (£18), Wensleydale Sheep stool (£25) and Lamb wallstickers are bleeting with joy.

We can't mention the sheep and ignore our bunnies. Our bunnies are the most popular of all the animals in our range. I must confess that we have a rabbit-proof fence around our garden to keep the hungry little critters out, but these wooden/button/painted versions are more than welcome to stay. Our bunny cushions are a popular newborn gift by award-winning designer Jessica Graham (£22) and the original Blackboard is a best-seller again this Spring at only £12.99.

In the spirit of all things 'newborn', I can highly recommend the quality of the wall stickers we sell. The large T Rex Dinosaur was recently used in a DIY:SOS show on BBC1, and new to our range is the Lamb, Foal, Chicks (£12) and a cheeky Piglet. My daughter has them in her room, and the attention to detail is second to none. A masterpiece, each and every one.

Pop along to the animal creche here at www.littlepresentcompany.co.uk and see what surprise is waiting to come home with you.

Bring on the Bookends

Bring on the Bookends

Look at our fun range of Bookends in stock! We have Soldiers, Ponies, Jolly Roger Pirates (£19.95) and Pirate Wood Ships (£28). They make a thoughtful present for a child who has a collection of books on display, and adds an element of fun to shelves.

Bookends don't necessarily have to display a collection of books, but are also useful to hold a dvd collection or little boxes of ds games.  These are fun, colourful and useful - so therefore a great gift that the kids AND the mums will love.

Find them at our http://www.littlepresentcompany.co.uk/birth-gifts.asp  and have one of these cheeky little mites to stay.

All Aboard the Good Ship Little Present Company

The Jolly Roger is a flag flown to identify a ship's crew as Pirates. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the flag was flown to frighten pirates' victims into surrendering without a fight, since it conveyed the message that the attackers were outlaws who were not bound by the usual rules of engagement.

We celebrate the Jolly Roger motif, and whilst it has its roots in the blood-thirsty, we celebrate it's cheeky nature with a whole host of children's accessories. Each of the Skulls is smiling (gappy, toothless smiles, granted) but they mean no harm. They are as keen as mustard to become part of your little boy's bedroom and playroom: the Bookends are a particularly useful item at only £28, as with the 3-rung pegs £15, and the Pirate Wooden Door Sign (£12) is sure to deter little sisters from entering without permission from the Pirate Captain himself.

So sail along to our Good Ship 'Little Present Company' and feast your eyes on our treasure chests full of cushions, mirror (£53) canvases (£33 and £40) and handmade beaded Keepsake Boxes. Oo-ar it's a bucket load of joy.

Butterflies and Zebras... oo yeah

Emma Hendrix is as soulful as Jimi Hendrix, but has no musical ability (bar karaoke after a few Bacardis). Instead, she focuses her energies on being a mum and working all hours. Inspired by her surname, I recalled my favourite Hendrix song and realised that quite a few of the lyrics have some (loose) connection with our product range.
There we are... It's a random link, but a link never-the-less.
Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that's running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
That's all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.
When I'm sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
It's alright she says it's alright
Take anything you want from me, anything.
Fly on little wing, Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing
We have Butterflies a-plenty (see our Butterfly Canvas for £40), Zebras (£34) and a Moonbeam or two here at the Little Present Company. Indulge your psychedelic inner being with a visit to our far-out online store. You will be greeted with a metaphorical hug, yeah yeah, yeah yeah.

Pancake Heaven

Flippin' Fantastic Fun Day... we are mixing the batter and buttering the pans ready for a pancake flip and race. My kitchen ceiling still bears the grease stains of last year's mishap. I was too enthusiastic and ended up being disqualified.

If the kitchen at Little Present Company headquarters were a bakery, the hottest buns of the moment are without a doubt our hand-whittled Windsor Children's Chairs. They are made to order, and as fresh and as original as a baked bunnage. Get them whilst they are hot for only £75.

Being Lent we are now on a nil-junk-by-mouth policy. It is very hard (nay, impossible) to imagine how we are going to cope without the cheeky choccie snacks and sweeties which regularly find their way into our working day. Forgive my talking about sweet treats, but the only thing we are allowed in our life for the next 40 days and 40 nights are *drum roll* the Cupcake Applique Blankets, Babygrows and Cupcake Mounted Name Frame (£30), Gingerbread Blackboard (£12.99), Icecream Clock (£34) nor the Sweet Treats Arch Mirror (£53). We are allowed the Strawberry Clock (£34) though, so it's all good. Fresh and sweet, just like us.

So it's onwards and upwards for us. Happy Pancake Day everyone, and call us if you need any calorie-free sweet treats in the post. Go on, order them.... please take them off our hands!

Clever Home-Grown Creative Talent at LPC

Claire Ramshaw, of Ava.P, has always been creative. “I've always drawn and painted since I was a little girl. It's always been my passion. At school I'd add pictures to essays and reports to try and get a better mark!”
Following her natural leaning towards the Arts, Claire studied textiles at the Newcastle Art College, and later went to Edinburgh to concentrate on vintage clothing. It is this broad knowledge of fabric, colour and texture that Claire brings to her fabulous frames, canvases and more recently, her gorgeous beaded Keepsake Boxes. (Canvases £40, Boxes £28/£38 and Frames £35).
We are so proud to be able to be a shop window for Claire’s unique work at the Little Present Company. Each of her pieces is made to order and personalised with an exuberant flair. Once Claire’s daughter was born, she established ‘Ava.P’ which gives her the opportunity to put all of her skills into practice. Her love of colour, children and her constantly expanding range of subject matter and styles are making Ava.P one to watch. Keep an eye open for more pictures at http://www.littlepresentcompany.co.uk/whats-new.asp

Press Release Feb 2011

PROUD TO SELL BRITISH

We are all about sourcing good, honest, British products here at the Little Present Company. It is with great pleasure that we introduce 3 creative artists to you: each with a different medium, but all sharing that essential ‘British-ness’ which is our ethos at the Little Present Company.

Sarah Watkins, founder and designer of Fairbourn Children’s Furniture is right up our ethical street. It was after her son was born that Sarah tried, unsuccessfully to find furniture and attractive accessories for her home. Using her background in design, she set about creating her unique range of wooden items which are based on the Shaker principles on honesty to the materials: “whatever is fashioned, let it be plain and simple and for the good”.

Her carved and painted words Love, Dream and Angel are brilliantly adaptable. Made from solid wood from renewable sources, they are painted and distressed by hand in her workshop. They can be wall-mounted or table top displayed and are available in a range of soft pastel colours (£36 each). Her cheeky Bunny, Gingerbread Man and Love Heart blackboards have been flying off the shelves since we introduced them into our range in November, and at £12.99 each, it is hardly surprising.

All of Sarah’s wooden accessories are made by hand. The soft palette range and integrity to the wood give each one a lovely vintage feel. She gleans ‘real pleasure’ from creating beautiful pieces. Designed, produced and sold from North Yorkshire through the Little Present Company, these Fairbourn wooden accessories have ‘local’ metaphorically stamped all over them.

Similarly local to us at the Little Present Company is Dick Willis’s furniture workshop. We are the only on-line distributor of his stunning range of hand-crafted children’s Windsor-style furniture which he has been producing since the late 1960s. His empathy for the wood and his intrinsic knowledge of early 18th Century domestic furniture has earned him a faultless reputation and a loyal following. Pieces of his furniture are extremely popular presents to mark important occasions, such as a birth or a Christening, and Mr Willis is able to engrave initials and dates along the back rung of the chairs. Each child’s chair is £75 and made to order.

We have recently introduced a range of children’s solid Oak and Elm stools. Each one has been whittled and carved locally in Bedale, no one the same. The average size is around 21cm tall and at £25 each, it is a solid investment in a life-lasting piece of elegant furniture.

We inherited Maxine Pharaoh when we bought the Little Present Company in 2009, and she has continued to be one of our top-selling artists. We are proud to sell her new collection of personalised children’s clocks and chalkboards (all £24.50 each). Each item is hand-made in her St. Ives workshop in Cornwall. Using her skills of collage and story-telling, Maxine has a range of personal and bespoke gifts for children that will be treasured for years to come. Some items are part of a limited edition of 50.

Handmade using traditional materials from blanket, cottons, linen, buttons and with stitched detailing, Maxine’s cushions (£36) are personalised with a name of your choice to create an absolutely stunning keepsake gift. They are made to order with much care and attention to detail, and to the very highest standard. Maxine sells through a few websites, but she is one of our biggest treasures and we have her most affordable prices.

Drawstring Bags: Handmade with Love

New Product alert! (siren sounds loudly). Another divine value-for-your-hard-earned-pennies present from the Little Present Company.

Our new Drawstring bags for boys and girls: Rocket, Car, Star, Dino, Boat, Flower, Bird, Heart, Cupcake, Butterfly. Personalised with name below the appliqued motif... for a staggeringly affordable £18.50 each.

The bags are interlined and quality through and through. The rope drawstring is sturdy and there is even a hook at the back so that they can be hung on a peg (see image).

Yet another gift lovingly sourced and made in the UK. Not an airmile in sight (unlike the packet of Asparagus which accidentally found its way into my shopping trolley yesterday... Peru I tell you!).

Hand-Made Wooden Stools

Our friendly local genius, Dick Willis, has given us four gorgeous stools to sell. Each one has been whittled and carved locally in Bedale with a skill perfected over the years. There are a range of sizes, the average being approx 21cm tall, is 30cm x 20cm on the top and has 4 sturdy legs.

We have 2 oak and 2 elm, the latter being 'blonde' colour.

It is also possible to get an image etched on (with a burning rod - very clever): a Highland Cow, a Swaledale Sheep, a harnessed Horse and a Monarch Stag. Your choice, please specify at checkout.

They are tall enough for little children to sit on, and small enough for grown ups to use as foot stools. Clever, versatile and affordable at only £25 (the tiny one is £20) excluding postage costs.

Good honest design here at the Little Present Company, and not an air-mile in sight.
