An Ideal Night-time, courtesy of the Little Present Company

After bathing your little bundles of loveliness in a lavender-based bath essence (after the previous night's disaster and middle of the night whingeing from junior), you take the small children to the cupboard to choose nightwear.

The baby sleeps like a king in his Crown Baby Vest (£10.95). His bedtime story is The Prince's Bedtime (£7.95) but he is asleep before they get to page 5. He falls asleep with his favourite wooden Tractor and Trailer in his arms (£5.95).

Big brother prefers his Vintage Cars pyjamas (£19.95) because they are the button-down front like daddy's and they have a car on them like they have on Top Gear. He gets to stay up a little late so fills in the blanks in his Johnny Joe's Time Travel Colouring Book (£4.50)

Big sister has a pair of pink pyjamas with a Rocking Horse design, but tonight opts for the Floral Cotton Nightdress (£18.95) because it is soft and lightweight. Her bed is pretty with its personalised cushion (from £33), bedspread and teddy bears. It's almost too pretty to sleep in but she has been playing all day in her Wendy House and is thoroughly exhausted from all the fresh air.

And then the phone rings and everyone wakes up. POP!
